Alma P. Christiansen, 84, Mason City, Iowa

Alma P. Christiansen, age 84, of Mason City, Iowa, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at Heritage Care Center.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. today, Dec. 9, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Don Simmonds officiating. Interment will be held at 3:30 p.m. today in Graceland Cemetery, Albert Lea.

Memorials for Alma may be given to KCMR, Hospice of North Iowa, or Trinity Lutheran Church.

Visitation was held 5-7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City.

Alma P. Rake was born Sept. 2, 1919, in Rake, Iowa, the daughter of Arent and Petra (Holm) Rake. She grew up in the Rake area and graduated from Rake High School. Alma was united in marriage to Andrew Christiansen on May 2,1942, in Seattle, Wash. Alma was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She worked at the Northwood Retirement Home as an aide. Alma was a very gifted baker, she loved to make delicious Norwegian treats for her family and friends to enjoy, Alma had a deep love of gardening. She invested a great deal of time to her garden every season of the year. When Alma was not in her garden, she was creating some beautiful needlework to share as gifts to her family and friends. Alma was a family person. She loved to spend time with her family whenever she could.

Those left to cherish her memory are son, Larry Christiansen and wife Patricia of Gilbert, Ariz.; son, Gary Christiansen and wife Colleen of Mason City; grandchildren: Kyle, Michael and Erin Christiansen; sister, Bertha Nelson of Minneapolis; sister-in-law, Irene Christiansen of Duluth; and many nieces and nephews.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Andrew; sisters: Amanda, Eliza, Myrtle and Inez; and one brother, Elmer.
