Marion E. Bearnes, age 89, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003 at her home.
Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. today, Dec. 5, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 143rd and Blackbob Road, where the family received friends from 8:30-9.30 a.m. today. Interment will be in the Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Marion was born in Albert Lea on Dec. 3, 1913. She was a 1931 graduate of Albert Lea High School. She worked for Social Services and in the office for Atchison Manufacturing Co. in Albert Lea.
She was married to Lawrence R. Bearnes (who in 1993 preceded her in death) on March 9, 1941. They resided a number of years in Washington, D.C., where her late husband was employed at the Pentagon. They relocated to Overland Park in 1976.
She was also preceded in death by a twin brother, Myron Nelson; her younger brother, Charles Nelson; and parents, Carl and Anna Nelson.
She leaves a sister-in-law, Garnys Nelson of Ottawa, Kan.; nephew, Jay Nelson and wife Karen of Wautoma, Wis.; niece, Janet Stewart and husband Paul of Olathe, Kan.; and four grand-nephews.
