Verneta H. Reindal, 79, Alden

Funeral services for Verneta H. Reindal, age 79, of Alden, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. The Rev. Peter Soli will officiate. Interment will be in the Alden Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Verneta died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Verneta Helena Reindal was born June 19, 1924, to Vernon and Clara (Enser) Sauer in Foster Township, Faribault County. She grew up in the Alden area, attended school in Walters, and graduated from Alden High School in 1942. On Sept. 2, 1943, Verneta was united in marriage to Ralph Reindal at the First Lutheran Parsonage in Albert Lea. She had been employed as a nurse’s aide at St. John’s Lutheran Home and as a secretary for the Alden-Conger School District. Verneta was a former member of United Lutheran Church in Walters and a current member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. She was also a member of the Alden Homemakers Club, active in church circles, and enjoyed volunteer work, quilting, and sewing. Her grandchildren loved their visits with grandma.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph of Alden; children: Rita and her husband Bob Usselman of Alden, Georgia and her husband Dennis Freidel of Prescott, Wis., Charles and his wife Julie Reindal of Alden, and Daniel and his wife Sue Reindal, also of Alden; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters: Betty and her husband Fran Kalis of Albert Lea, and Barb and her husband Wayne Enderson of Tyler; brothers: Ralph Sauer of Madison Lake, and Clair and his wife Lois Sauer of Lewiston; sisters-in-law: Leona Sauer of Albert Lea, and Jeanne Reindal of the Twin Cities; brother-in-law, Richard Sorensen of Albert Lea; and many nieces and nephews.

Verneta was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Joy Reindal; brother, Orville Sauer; and mother- and father-in-law: George and Selma Reindal.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
