Eleanor Junge, 90, Wells

Eleanor Junge, age 90, of Wells, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at Parkview Care Center, where she had resided the past month, and prior to that had lived at The Shepherd’s Inn.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, at the United Methodist Church in Wells. The Rev. Art Keith will officiate. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday and one hour prior to services on Tuesday. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Wells.
Eleanor was born on Feb. 27, 1913, in Mankato, the daughter of Rev. Moses and Jane Schoenleben. She spent her childhood in Minneapolis, Mankato, Olivia and Wells, graduating from Wells High School in 1931. She attended Mankato Teachers College and received a B.S. Degree and did post-graduate work at Mankato State University.
On June 12, 1939, she was united in marriage to Herman Junge in Wells at First Lutheran Church. Following their marriage she worked at Penney’s and at the Wells Depot. She taught school in Stewart, Austin, Minnesota Lake and taught kindergarten in Wells until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of the Local, State and National Teachers Association and Retired Teachers Association. She was a life long member of the United Brethren/United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and Bible School. She’s touched so many hearts.
Eleanor and her husband were avid Wells sports fans. She also enjoyed traveling. She traveled to many places in the United States and abroad.
She is survived by a nephew: Dr. Robert Carlson and family of Minneapolis;
and special friends (her “kids”): Frank and Nancy Vincent, Bonnie Urbain, and Jim and Jackie Ramaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman E. Junge, in 1957; two brothers; one sister; and one niece.
Memorials are preferred to the United Methodist Church or the Wells Public Library Foundation.
