A Squirts defeat Luverne, Mason City

The Albert Lea A Squirts Blue hockey team had a great weekend, posting two wins.
On Saturday, following the Albert Lea High School boys’ varsity game at Luverne, the younger Tigers showed they could play too, defeating Luverne 4-1.
Scoring for Albert Lea were Ben Enger, Auston Larson, Tyler Woodside and Dillon Stolt. Assists were handed out by Larry Olson, Thomas Furland and Bo Sorenson.
On Sunday the locals hosted a big team from Mason City which defeated Albert Lea earlier in the season. This time the locals had the win. With Albert Lea leading 4-1 late in the third period, Mason City made a comeback, scoring twice, but it wasn’t enough and Albert Lea held on 4-3.
Scoring for the tigers were Woodside, Stolt, and, with two goals, Jordin Crawford. Assists were by David Enstad, Tyler Osmundson, Soren Colstrup and Enger. Nick Dulas had a great game in goal, stopping 28 of 31 shots.
The Squirts consist of players from age 7 through 11 years old and have a limited travel schedule. The next home game is Saturday Feb. 21 at 3:15 against Mankato.
