B Bantams play three close ones

The Albert Lea Moose Club B Bantams hockey team had three close contests in recent action, skating to a tie with New Ulm and St. Peter while falling 3-2 to Owatonna.
Nick Koza scored two goals in a 3-3 tie with New Ulm. Matt Hobbie had the other goal and an assist. Bryce Adams had two assists. Nick Bonciminio was the goalie. Shots on goal were 21-21.
&uot;The kids got behind early,&uot; said coach Dick Herfindahl. &uot;They came back and never gave up. A tie is as good as a win when you come from behind.&uot;
The locals tied 2-2 with Koza and Jake Hamberg scoring for Albert Lea, with assists going to Koza and Hobbie. Bonciminio faced 21 shots while Albert Lea put 41 shots on the St. Peter net.
&uot;The kids needed to win or tie to win seeding in the district tournament,&uot; said Herfindahl. &uot;They played hard to come back and tie it.&uot;
Adam Madrigal and Jared Hughes had goals in the Owatonna game. Phil Runden had an assist. Shots on goal were 19-14 in favor of Owatonna with Bonciminio in the net.
&uot;It was a close game,&uot; said Herfindahl. &uot;It could have gone either way.&uot;
