Francis D. Curtin, 75, Stewartville and Austin

Funeral services for Francis D. Curtin, age 75, formerly of Stewartville and Austin, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, at the Griffin-Gray Funeral Home, Stewartville. The Rev. Lissa Kahl of Zion Lutheran Church, Stewartville, will officiate. Visitation

will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Stewartville.

He died Friday, March 12, 2004, at the Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea where he had resided for the past 1 1/2 years.

He was born Aug. 8, 1928, in Austin, and married Doris Bredesen on April 27, 1951, in Stewartville. She died April 21, 1990. On Feb. 12, 1999, he married Rachel Nieswanger in Rochester, They were later divorced.

He grew up near Stewartville on the family farm and attended rural schools.

He joined the U.S. Navy in 1945 and served in Japan with the U.S. occupation forces. After his discharge he was employed with the Federal Aviation Administration as an electronic technician for 26 years. The last seven years of his employment he was assigned with NORAD, stationed at Middleton Island, Gulf of Alaska. He retired in 1986.

He was a past president of the AARP chapter in Austin. He enjoyed travel with many trips abroad.

Survivors include two sons: Gregory of Wells, and Trent of Eagle River, Alaska; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Curtin of Rochester; and one sister, Hildie Russell of Austin.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, infant daughter, infant great-granddaughter, and eight brothers and sisters.
