James P. Schoen, 51, Freeborn

James P. Schoen, age 51, of Freeborn, died Sunday, March 7, 2004, at the Albert Lea Medical Center as a result of a car accident.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 12, at the Freeborn Congregational United Church of Christ in Freeborn. The Rev. Cherie Daniel will officiate. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 11, and visitation one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Interment will be in the Freeborn Cemetery, Freeborn.

Jim was born on Sept. 6, 1952, in Albert Lea, the son of Robert E.D. and Helen (Olson) Schoen. He attended Freeborn High School and graduated in 1970. He married Barbara Morgan on Aug. 18,1973, in Freeborn. Jim farmed with his dad, and was a fifth generation dairy farmer. For the past 10 years he was a carpenter and roofer. He was a member of Freeborn Congregational United Church of Christ in Freeborn. Jim has been employed part-time for a number of years at the Powerhouse Bar in Freeborn. He enjoyed all Minnesota sports and the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Barb Schoen of Freeborn; two sons: Jesse and wife Lisa Schoen of Rosemount, Minn., and Josh Schoen of LaCrosse, Wis.; one daughter, Laura Schoen of Eagan, Minn.; mother, Helen Schoen of Freeborn; one brother, Steven Schoen of San Rafael, Calif.; two sisters:

Peggy and husband Dean Goettsch of Hills, Minn., and Pamela and husband Stephan Sahl of Williamsburg, Kan.; Barb’s brothers and sister: Mike (Debbie) Morgan of Panama City Beach, Fla., Larry (Debbie) Morgan of Hartland, Rick Morgan of Albert Lea, Gary (Tracy) Morgan of Hayward, and Carole Handris of Canoga Park, Calif.; Barb’s parents: Elmer and Lavonne Morgan of Hayward; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of good friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert, in 1991; and brother, Bobby.
