Jeanice M. Malimanek, 71, Watertown, S.D

Jeanice M. Malimanek, age 71, of Watertown, S.D., a former Troy, S.D. resident, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2004, at a local care center. She was the widow of Leonard Malimanek.
A celebration of her life will be on Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at 10 a.m. at
St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Waverly, S.D., with the Rev. Gregg Frankman officiating. Music will be furnished by the St. Joseph’s Church Choir accompanied by Eileen Lindner. Interment will be in the Troy Cemetery, Troy, S.D. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Wight and Comes Funeral Chapel, and on Wednesday prior to services at the church.
Honorary Pallbearers will be all her granddaughters and great grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be Matt and Tommy Malimanek, Josh Lunning, Gary Hible, Steve Misener, Rick Petersen, Lucas, Elijah and Kyle Malimanek.
Jeanice Marie Malimanek, the daughter of Leonard and Elda (Conrad) Mogard was born on June 9, 1932 in Revillo, S.D. She graduated from Revillo High School in 1950. On Aug. 4, 1950, she married Leonard A. Malimanek and the couple farmed near Troy for many years. In 1964 they moved to Albert Lea. Jeanice attended Austin Technical Institute in nursing and graduated in 1970 as an LPN. She was a clinical nurse for Dr. Theodore Myers in Albert Lea for 18 years. In 1988 Leonard and Jeanice moved back to Troy. After her husband’s death on Oct. 18, 1995, she moved to Watertown. She was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, crafts, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a senior companion and loved sports. Jeanice requested that everyone celebrate the great things in her life.
She was preceded in death by her father; her husband; one son, Mark; and her stepfather, Clarence Lindberg.
She is survived by four sons: Michael Malimanek and his wife Laurie of Watertown, S.D., (Sarah and Matthew), Timothy Malimanek of Strandburg, S.D., Patrick Malimanek and his wife Sharon of Cottage Grove, Minn., (Lucas and Elijah), and SK2 Scott Malimanek of Goose Creek, S.C., (Crystal, Ashley, Jordan, Taylor and Kyle); two daughters: Vicki Lunning and her husband Steven of Clarks Grove, (Jennifer and Joshua), and Suzanne Srp and her husband David of Glenville, (Jillann, April and Kelcey); her mother, Elda Lindberg of Claremont, Minn.; 18 great-grandchildren; many half brothers and sisters; and one sister-in-law, Ruth Miller and her husband Don of Sioux Falls, S.D.
