Bernice Burshem, 82, Owatonna

Bernice Burshem died Saturday, May 8, 2004, at the Owatonna Hospital. She was 82 years old.
The funeral service for Bernice Burshem of Ellendale will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11, at First Lutheran Church, Ellendale. The burial will be in First Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 10, at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Ellendale, and one hour before the service at the church.
Bernice was born July 20, 1921, in Owatonna, to Theodore and Margaret (Johnson) Munson. She attended rural country school in Havana Township, Steele County. Bernice married Allen Burshem on July 28, 1944. She lived in Owatonna, Steele Center and Ellendale since 1962. Bernice was a member of First Lutheran Church, Ellendale. She worked for E. F. Johnson of Waseca, Herters in New Richland and Waseca, and the egg plant, Ellendale. She was a member of SEMEC, Ellendale. Bernice enjoyed doing needle work, gardening both floral and vegetable. She especially enjoyed sitting on her deck.
Bernice is survived by her three children: Carol Putrah and her husband Dean of Good Thunder, Gary Burshem and his wife Paula of Ellendale, and Doug Burshem and his wife Brenda of Ellendale; grandchildren: Sharon Stokesbary and her husband Dave, Jeff Phillips and his wife Tina, Jerry Phillips and his significant other Ann, Wendy Reynolds and her husband Dan, Joan Gustefson and her husband Duane, John Arndt and his wife Wendy, Ben and Tom Burshem, Stephanie, Jennafer and Dustin Burshem; sister, Elsie Pelly and her husband Maurice of Faribault; and
brother, Eugene Munson of Faribault.
Bernice is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Margaret; husband Allen, son Robert; daughter, Judy; and two brothers, Theodore and Sidney.
