Mabel E. Doyle, 91, Conger

Funeral services for Mabel E. Doyle, of Conger, was held 11 a.m. today, May 18, at the Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel in Albert Lea. The Rev. Susan Wallager will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation was Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

Mrs. Doyle died Saturday evening, May 15, 2004, at Thorne Crest North Retirement Center, Health Care Wing in Albert Lea, she was 91 years of age.

Mabel was born in Freeborn County on Feb. 24, 1913, the daughter of Chris and Helen (Quam) Madson. She attended Glenville Schools.

On Jan. 28, 1933, Mabel was united in marriage with Vernon Doyle in Austin. They were members of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Mabel had worked for Streater Co. in Albert Lea, Stampers in Wells, and she had cooked for Trumbles Restaurant, Standard Truckstop, and the Skyline Restaurant. She enjoyed cooking, baking, taking care of her flowers but mostly spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by six children: Delores (Kenneth) Robinson of Albert Lea, Lois (Gerald) Heine of Conger, Gary (Arlene) Doyle of Albert Lea, Kenneth Doyle of Albert Lea, Roger Doyle and friend Mary Jensen of Albert Lea, and Burton (Doreen) Doyle of Conger; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Ardella Keifer of St. Charles, Minn., and Betty Hughes of Janesville, Wis.; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon; two granddaughters: Brenda and Jayme; grandson, Danny; infant grandson; four brothers:

Melvin, John, Maynard, abd Hubert; and three sisters:

Hannah Hagen, Betty Larson, Lavina Moen.
