Robert Joseph Larkin was born April 5, 1920, the son of Ernest and Anna (Rodell) Larkin in Austin.

Bob was a lifelong resident of Austin, employed for 47 years by Hormel Company before retiring in May of 1982.

On Oct. 7, 1942, Bob and Lillian Madenoff were united in marriage. They had three children: Robert (Doris) Larkin Jr. of Two Harbors, Gloria (Bill) Hareid of Albert Lea, and Annette (Monte) Nover of Austin, Texas. Lillian preceded Bob in death in July of 1987. On Dec. 23, 1989, Bob married Georgia Koenig. They lived at 800 First Drive NW, Austin. He had been active in the Grapevine Twist Club, Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, bowling, Cotillion Club, The Hormel Retirees, and also enjoyed volunteering his time for the Austin Medical Center as a Red Cross volunteer.

Bob died peacefully of lung disease at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2004, at the Austin Medical Center.

In addition to his wife and children, Bob is survived by step-children: Marjorie (Al) Rosenthal of Fridley, and Steven (Lu Anne) Koenig of Stewartville; five grandchildren: Kristen (Andy) Larson of Columbia, Mo., Sarah (Alex) Hicks of Scottsdale, Ariz., Jeff (Amy) Larkin of Lakeville, Todd Larkin of Apple Valley, and

Shane (Beth) Williamson of Carver; step grandchildren: Andrew (Caitlyn) Rosendahl of Savage, Martin Rosendahl of Rochester Hills, Mich., Amy Rosendahl of Minneapolis. and Erin, Holly and Troy Koenig of Stewartville; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Harry (Dorothy) Larkin; sisters: Shirley (Virgil Ryan) and Delores Coons of Onamia;

nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

His first wife, Lillian; a grandson; brothers: Patrick and Edward; and brother-in-law, Gene Coons, preceded him in death.

All who knew him will miss Bob. God bless his memory.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 21, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Austin with The Rev. Robert Seifert officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Sunday, June 20, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin. Interment is at St. Theodore Cemetery in Albert Lea prior to the service. There will be no reviewal at church.

Honorary casket bearers are: Harry Larkin, Robert Larkin Jr., William Hareid, Todd Larkin, Jeffrey Larkin, Alex Hicks, Steven Koenig, Andy Larson, Al Rosendahl, Virgil Ryan, Andrew Rosendahl, Troy Koenig and Marty Rosendahl.

The family prefers memorials to American Lung Association or donor’s choice.
