Elna M. Hanson, 92, Kiester

Elna M. Hanson, age 92, of Kiester, died Saturday, July 3, 2004, at her home in Kiester.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Kiester. The Rev. Dick Steffen will officiate. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 5 to 8 p.m. today, and one hour prior to service at church on Wednesday. Interment will be in Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery in Kiester.

Elna Margaret Hanson was born March 13,1912, the daughter of Henry C. and Minnie (Possehl) Kaus in Clay County, Minn. She, with her family, moved to Minneapolis where she finished school and worked in an office until she was married to Frank Hischke and moved to Spokane, Wash., and later to St. Louis, Mo. When Frank died suddenly, Elna moved back to Minneapolis and again worked in this office. On Aug. 10, 1946, she married Jim Hanson and they moved to Kiester where they purchased a small hardware store, retiring in 1984. Elna was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where she was active in choir and circles. She enjoyed golf and bowling.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Hanson of Kiester; one son, Marcus and his wife Mary Hischke of Minneapolis; one granddaughter, Karter Hischke of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Frank; and three brothers: Wilbert, Edmund and Lewis Kaus.
