Guy Gerry Thompson, age 90, of Oronoco, Minn., died Saturday, July 10, 2004, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester.
He was born Jan. 12, 1914, in Rochester.
He married Caroline Duncan in June of 1936, and later divorced.
He married Gertrude Kepp in
May of 1971 and she survives.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Thompson
of Oronoco; four daughters:
Dawne (Barry) Clapper of Mankato, Hope (Kenneth) Holz of Albert Lea, Sharon (Darrell) Darr of Dodge Center, and Suzanne (Jesse) Pennington of Rochester; three stepsons: Richard (Ruth) Kepp of Buffalo, John (Diane) Kepp of Burnsville, and Michael (Mary) Kepp of Rochester; stepdaugther, Nancy (Richard) Schilling of Rochester; brother, Lowell &uot;Red&uot; (Eunice) Thompson of
Rochester; 22 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, two brothers, one grandson, and first wife.
He was a lifelong resident of Rochester. Guy worked as a carpenter for Fred Butterfuss, 7up Bottling Co., Garfield Schwartz, and O.A. Stocke in Rochester,
and Camp McCoy in Sparta, Wis. Guy and his parents owned Thompson Hand Laundry in Rochester, and in his retirement he worked for Cabinet Craft in Rochester. He enjoyed flowers, gardening, fishing, and woodworking. He was a member of Peace United Church of Christ.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday July 15, at Peace United Church of Christ in Rochester. The Rev. Paul Bauch will officiate. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Rochester. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes in Rochester, and one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.
