Edna D. Marxen, 88, Golden Valley

Edna D. Marxen, age 88, of Golden Valley, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center in Albert Lea, where she had been a resident for the last two years.
Edna was born Dec. 23, 1915, in Blue Earth to Frederick Heenan and Olga Alvina (Evans) Heenan. Edna was fifth oldest in a family of nine children. On June 5, 1943, she married Dr. Waldo (Wally) F. Marxen at Blue Earth.
Edna worked at Eders Dry Goods Store, Paul’s Dress Shop, and Buttreys from 1935 to 1944 and worked for S & L as a sportswear buyer from 1944 to 1953. She also worked for her husband, Wally, in his dental office from 1969 to 1973. She and Wally built their home at 2154 Perry Avenue in Golden Valley in 1953 where she remained until 2002. At that time, she moved to Thorne Crest Retirement Center in Albert Lea so that she could be near her sister, Harriet. Edna loved traveling, playing golf and many card games.
Edna and Wally had no children. She is survived by her sister, Harriet (Richard) Moore of Albert Lea; nieces: Joan Lea Viers of Charles City. Iowa, Jean Moltz of Buena Vista, Colo., Donna (Mark) Tvelt of University Place , Wash., Sharon (Rick) Norman of Tacoma. Wash., Judy (Bob) Albers of Bothell, Wash., Judy (Chuck) Nesse of Albert Lea, and Cheryl Moore of Rochester; nephews: Fred (Caroline) Krinkle of Watsonville, Calif., John (Sarah) Heenan of Tacoma, Wash., Steve (Ruth) Moore of Rochester, Kevin (Lori) Moore of Chaska, and Dennis (Janice) Heenan of Blue Earth;
and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wally, in 1991; her parents; her brothers: George, Walter (Pug), and Carl; and her sisters, Helen, Alice, Ruth, and Marian,
Memorial service will be Saturday. 11 a.m. at Kapala-Glodek-Malone Funeral Home, 7800 Bass Lake Road, New Hope. Visitation one hour prior. Private Interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
