Joanne Frances Blein Murnane, 82, Hastings

Joanne Frances Blien Murnane, age 82, of Hastings, Minn., died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, at Hospice Homes and Suites in Elko, Minn. A nurse, friend, wife, mother, grandmother, and joyful great-grandmother, she was beloved by many and will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered.
She was born July 28, 1922, in White Bear Lake, Minn., the daughter of Oscar Alfred Blien and Octavia Goodwin Thompson Blien. She graduated from White Bear High School in 1940 and earned her BS and RN degrees in Public Health from the University of Minnesota in 1946.
On Aug. 11, 1944, she married Joseph Edward Murnane, and together they had three children: Sheila (Mitch) Murnane Cumberworth, Susan (Dennis) Murnane Driscoll, and John (Sonia) Murnane; seven grandchildren: Bethany Cumberworth, Anne (Nathaniel) Cumberworth Allen, Sean Murnane, Tara Murnane, Octavia Driscoll, Nora Driscoll, and Casey Murnane; and one great-grandson, Parker Allen.
She is also survived by her sister, Barbara (Terry) Blien Rooney, three nieces:
Diane (Jerry) Rooney Tonder, Robyn (Charles) Rooney Stuemke, and Wendy (Greg) Rooney Steiner, and their children and grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m. at St. John in the Wilderness Episcopal Church, 2175 First St., White Bear Lake.
