Myron C. Thompson, 93, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Myron C. Thompson, of Albert Lea, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Wayne Halvorson will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour before the service at the church.
Myron was born on Feb. 17, 1911, near Buffalo Center, Iowa, the son of Martin and Carrie (Oftedahl) Thompson. He attended rural country school near Buffalo Center. As a young man he enjoyed working with large equipment and began working for Jensvold’s in Buffalo Center.
On May 18, 1939, he married Mae Sathoff
in Ringsted, Iowa. Following their marriage Myron took over the family farm near Buffalo Center. In 1948, they moved and began farming southeast of Hayward. Myron retired in 1975, and they moved into Albert Lea. He had been a member of the Hayward Lutheran Church and then became a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran when they moved to Albert Lea.
Myron loved fishing and birdwatching and enjoyed tinkering with motors and fixing things, especially lawn mowers and bikes for area neighbors.
Myron died on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at the Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea. He was 93.
He is survived by two children: son, Dean Thompson of Hayward,
and daughter, Ramona Thompson of Rochester; three grandchildren: Michael Thompson of Minneapolis, Lisa Thompson of Albert Lea, and Randy Thompson of New Richland; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Carrie Thompson; wife, Mae; his stepfather, Ed Holm; three brothers: Elmer, Lloyd and Ernest Thompson; and three sisters: Gladys O’Keefe, Phyllis Rhubee, and Blanche Krieger.
