Roy Robert ‘Bob’ Loos, 77, Albert Lea

A celebration of life for Roy Robert &uot;Bob” Loos, age 77, of Albert Lea, formerly of Estherville, Iowa, and Sherburn, Minn., was held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 04 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Sherburn with Rev. Steven D. Wilson officiating. Burial was in Fairview Memorial Park in Fairmont with full military honors by the Thomas P. Saxton American Legion Post #356 and the Sherburn Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8261.

Roy died Thursday evening, Sept. 23, 2004, at the Albert Lea Medical Center in

Albert Lea. Visitation was one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.

Roy Robert Loos was born July 24, 1927, to John and Elizabeth (Huck) Loos in Martin County, Minn. He attended school in Sherburn. On March 27, 1945, he entered the United States Navy serving until his honorable discharge on July 10, 1946. On June 12, 1948, he was united in marriage to Janet Drager in Sherburn. After their marriage they lived in Sherburn from 1948 until 1961 where Bob operated the Loos Farm Store. They later moved to Estherville, Iowa, where Bob was employed at Golden Sun Feeds. They then moved to Slayton, Minn. Janet died an Jan. 2, 1975. Bob later moved back to Estherville, Iowa, in 1981. In 2001, he moved to Albert Lea.

Bob was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Estherville, Iowa. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8261 of Sherburn where at one time he served on its Honor Guard. He was a former member of the Sherburn Fire Department and played on the Sherburn Foxes Baseball Team. He was a member of the Oak Grove Rod and Gun Club in Albert Lea and the NRA. He greatly enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and playing cards and dice, bowling and playing billiards. Bob was an avid Minnesota Golden Gopher fun.

Those who shared in his life are children: son, Barry Loos and his wife Bev of Albert Lea; son, Mark Loos of Springfield, Mo.; daughter, Gayle Cook of Albert Lea; five grandchildren: Brian Loos and his wife Jennifer of Goodhue, Minn., Brandi Loos and special friend Tim Dirkes of Albert Lea, Aaron and Alysa Cook of Albert Lea, and Alana Loos of Springfield, Mo.; sisters, Darlene Eisenmenger and her husband John of Fairmont, and Elizabeth “Betty” Hurlbert of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; father-in-law, Mearl Drager of Welcome, Minn., sister-in-law, Phyllis Arndt of Welcome; and

nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet Darlene “Drager” Loos; brothers: John, Adam and Jake; sisters: Anne Grewe and Margaret Schmidt; and other relatives.
