Both Keith Porter and Jerry Kaphers, challengers for the District 27A House held by incumbent Dan Dorman, bring passion and a depth of knowledge of state issues to the race, however, it is the down-to-earth realism of Dorman that led us to give him our endorsement.
His thorough research on topics before he makes a decision or enters a bill can’t be equaled. When he knows the issue inside and out, he takes action, based on what is best for the majority of people of his district. His philosophy, when making decisions, takes into account first what is best for the people of his district, and what’s good for the people of Minnesota.
Dorman also got our nod because he votes for what he believes is right, even if that means voting against his party. We like that he is an independent thinker.
We like his realistic approach to many issues: He strives to strike a balance between those big dreamers and what the state can afford to do.
Over the course of his terms, Dorman has built clout in the House and now serves on the Commerce, Jobs, and Economic Development Committee as well as the Economic Development and Tourism division. He also serves as chairman of the Jobs and Economic Development Finance; Taxes. He has a chance to make some important decisions for the state; we want him to have the opportunity.
