Cora J. Opdahl, 90, Albert Lea

Cora J. Opdahl, age 90, of Albert Lea, formerly of Emmons, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Albert Lea.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, at Emmons Lutheran Church in Emmons with the Rev. Julie Fiske officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills, Iowa, and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Emmons

Cora Jean (Brekke) Opdahl was born on May 4, 1914, at Scarville, Iowa, to Nels and Christina (Hovland) Brekke. She graduated from Scarville

High School and later from Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa, and taught in Winnebago County prior to getting married.

On May 8, 1938, Cora was united in marriage to Buell Opdahl at Lime Creek Church. Together, they farmed near Emmons and she later worked at Lee’s Bible Book Store and Features Office Services in Albert Lea.

Cora was active in her church and was church organist for many years at Lime Creek and also taught piano lessons.

She is survived by her children: Beverly (Roger) Larsen of Dalbo, Minn., Jan (Lowell) Jerdee of Albert Lea, Luther (Imogene) Opdahl of Emmons, and Debbie (Jim) Jahnke of Albert Lea; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Palma Laugen of Lake Mills, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Berdine Honsey of Emmons, Lucille Opdahl of Albert Lea, Ruth Schmidt of Minnetonka, Valborg Larson of Enumclaw, Wash., and Evelyn Stalheim of Albert Lea; one brother-in-law, Arnold Groe of Lake Mills, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Nels and Christina Brekke; brother, Thelford; an infant brother; her husband, Buell; and grandsons: Daniel Opdahl and Ray (Jr.) Bohm.
