Alton Frances Schultz, 76, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Alton F. Schultz, age 76, of Albert Lea, will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at the Church of St. Theodore. The Rev. Robert Schneider will officiate. Interment will be in St. Theodore’s Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Freeborn County Veteran’s organizations. Visitation is one hour prior to the services at the church. Alton died Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.

Alton and his twin brother, Alvin, were born Sept. 14, 1928, to Frank Theodore and Cecilia (Hassing) Schultz in Albert Lea. He grew up in Albert Lea and attended St. Theodore’s School. Alton graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1946 and then attended North Dakota State. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge, Alton attended the Minnesota School of Business and worked for the Holden Company in Minneapolis as a shipping clerk until his retirement in 1993. He returned to Albert Lea in 1996. Alton was a member of St. Theodore’s and the American Legion as well as a life member of the VFW. He loved to watch sports, especially football, and enjoyed taking care of his cats.

Survivors include his sisters: Margaret Schultz of Albert Lea and Irene Heiny of Plymouth, Iowa; brothers: Leo and his wife Barbara Schultz of Victoria, Minn., and Roger and his wife Delores Schultz of Albert Lea; sisters-in-law: Millie Schultz and Evelyn Schultz, both of Albert Lea; and nieces and nephews.

Alton was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Raymond, &uot;Sharkey&uot; Robert and Alvin; sister, Lorraine Schultz Stam; and brother-in-law, Bill Heiny.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to donor’s choice.
