Meyer, age 84, of rural Walters, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004 at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Kiester. The Rev. Richard Steffen will officiate. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells today, Monday, from 4 to 7 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be at Rice Lake Cemetery in Foster Township, Faribault County.

Evert was born on Aug. 19, 1920, in Foster Township, the son of

Edward and Laura (Schmidt) Meyer. He was a life long resident of the Kiester-Walters area, graduating from Kiester High School in 1938. He married Oda Scherb on Nov. 27, 1941, in Kiester. They farmed for 28 years then worked as

delivery drivers for Winnebago Industries for 16 years. Evert and Oda delivered over 1500 motor homes all over the United States and Canada.

He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Kiester and prior to that was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Walters where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, and was also a part of the Men’s Brotherhood. He was an active member of the Farming of Yesteryear organization and enjoyed gardening, working with flowers, traveling, and especially being with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Oda Meyer of Walters; two sons: James (wife Mary) Meyer of Kiester, and Jerome (wife Sharon) Meyer of Gurnee, Ill; three daughters: Joyce (husband Robert) Hamsund of Albert Lea, Jayne Meyer of Seattle, Wash., and Julie (husband David) Thrond of New Richmond, Wis.; nine grandchildren: Paul Meyer, Mark (wife Pepper) Meyer, John (wife Kim) Meyer, David (wife Becky) Meyer, Tom (wife Heather) Meyer,

Jeff (wife Julie) Meyer, Shari (husband Bill) Anderson, Chris (wife Missy) Hamsund, and Mike (wife Dani) Hamsund; 11 great-grandchildren: Malia Meyer, Leah and Isaac Meyer, Caleb, Noah, and Luke Meyer, Hannah Meyer, Wyeth, Sarah, and Jenna Anderson, and Grant Hamsund; and two sisters:

Maurine Penny of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Lorraine Peterson of Minneapolis,

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Bernette; and two brothers: Manville and Merlyn Meyer.
