Irene A. Johnson, age 84, of Frost, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, at St. Lukes Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Dell Lutheran Church in Frost, with the Rev. Joseph Ocker officiating. Burial will be in Dell Lutheran Cemetery, Frost. Visitation time will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 400 E. 10th St., in Blue Earth, and one hour prior to services at the church. She was born May 26, 1920, at Rome Township, the daughter of August and Hilda (Berge) Egeness. She was raised and educated in the Frost area. She was married to Harold T. Johnson on April 8, 1937, in Burt, Iowa. Harold died in 1981 and Irene was later married to George R. Johnson on March 31, 1984, at Dell Lutheran Church in Frost. George died in 1991.
Irene was a homemaker and was very active, and always volunteering at Dell Lutheran Church, where she was a member for over 60 years. She made and sold~ and was well known for, her homemade jellies and jams. She loved taking her fresh vegetables to the farmers market and was very active at the Faribault County Fair with her vegetable and pastry entries for many years.
Irene is survived by her son, Harlen (and wife Janice) Johnson of Winnebago; son, Richard (and wife Conine) Johnson of Frost; son, Terry (and wife Betty Lou) Johnson of Buffalo; daughter, Lois (and
husband Dennis) Hansel of Albert Lea; brother, Lester (and wife Mavis) Egeness of Frost; sister, Gladys Ludwig of Blue Earth; sister, Hazel O’Rourke of Blue Earth; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one grea- great-grandchild.
Irene was preceded in death by her two husbands, two infant sons, five brothers and three sisters.
