Marcia Jane Frisk, age 57, of Austin, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea after battling breast cancer.
Marcia was born Oct. 6, 1947, in Rochester to Merrill and Kathleen (Platz) Frisk.
She was baptized at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Rochester.
In 1951 she moved with her family back to Austin. Marcia attended Columbus-St. Augustine grade schools and Pacelli High School and graduated from Austin High School.
Marcia loved children, animals, and plants. She enjoyed reading, collecting cookbooks, and sharing recipes.
She made a study of theology and was a talented artist which led to a private audience with Mother Teresa of Calcutta on June 20, 1974, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Winona. She also wrote poems and had a short story published.
Marcia worked in nursing homes, did in-home care, and also worked at several area restaurants.
Survivors include her mother,
Kathleen Frisk of Austin; sisters: Colette (Richard) Chaffee of Austin, Mary Susan (Doug) Evans of Albert Lea, and Juliana (Brad) Hoban of
Eagle Lake; brothers: Mike (Linda) Frisk of Albert Lea, Tom (Bonnie) Frisk of
Mankato,
John Frisk of
New Ulm, and Joe Frisk of Austin; and nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father and her grandparents.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan, 8, at the Church of St. Augustine, Austin, with the Rev. Joe Fogal officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Mayer Funeral Home, Austin, and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
