Elsie M. Reeves, age 101, of Bricelyn, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Home in Blue Earth.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Bricelyn Lutheran Church in Bricelyn with The Rev. Gary Terrio officiating. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn today, Feb. 21, from 5 to 7 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in Bricelyn Lutheran Cemetery.
Elsie was born on April 23, 1903, in Ericson, Neb., the daughter of Ernest and Florence (Farr) Sanford. She married Roy J. Reeves on June 16,1920, in Ericson, Neb. She and her husband moved from Minneapolis to Bricelyn in 1969. She was a homemaker and daycare provider, but best known for her sewing ability. During her lifetime she created hundreds of dolls, quilts, and pieces of clothing. Elsie was a member of the Bricelyn Senior Citizens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, in 1974; one son, Leland and his wife Garnet Reeves; one daughter, Twyla and her husband Bernard Reger; three grandchildren: Delwin and Larry Reeves, and Sharon Reger; three brothers: Everett, Wilbur and Eugene Reeves; three sisters: Gladys Carlson, Helen Casper and Mildred Sanford; and one great-grandson, Joshua Roth.
Survivors include one son, Gaylen (wife Marley) Reeves of Bricelyn, 14 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 54 great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
