Margaret Tjepkema, 94, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Margaret F. Tjepkema, age 94, of Albert Lea, will be held 1p.m. Saturday, July 2, at the United Methodist Church in Platteville, Wis. The Rev. Wendy Christianson will officiate. Interment will be in the Green Mound Cemetery in Holmen, Wis.

Margaret died on Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.

Margaret Frances Tjepkema was born on Oct. 26, 1910, in Argyle, Wis., the daughter of Frank A. and Frances (Jackson) Thompson. After graduation from the University of Wisconsin, Margaret taught home economics in schools in northern Wisconsin. In 1940, Margaret was united in marriage to Sidney Tjepkema in the Wisconsin Dells. She was active in support of missionary activities in her church and taught Sunday School classes. Margaret was devoted to her family and chose to be a stay-at-home mother.

Survivors include her husband, Sidney of Albert Lea; son, James and wife Kathryn of Clarks Grove; son, John and wife Christa of Orono, Maine; grandchildren: Vanessa Stockard of Minnetonka, Minn., Elizabeth Tjepkema of Minneapolis, and Caroline Tjepkema of Orono, Maine; great-grandchildren: Zoe Stockard and Aine Stockard; brother, Donald Thompson of Freeport Ill.; and nieces: Jewel Thompson of Freeport, Ill., and Virginia Hicks of Billings, Mo.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Frank and Horace; and her sister, Alice.
