Trena Diekema, 93, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Trena M. Diekema, of Thorne Crest Retirement Center, Albert Lea, will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 29, at the United Methodist Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Bromeland will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.

Trena died on Saturday, July 23, 2005 at the Thorne Crest Retirement Center, Health Care Wing. She was 93.

She was born on July 6, 1912, in Parkersburg, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Hilda (Kaput) Byl. She attended schools in Rockford, Iowa.

Trena married Dick Diekema on March 27, 1935 in Mason City, Iowa.

They moved into Albert Lea in 1941, and made their home on Giles Place, moving to

ThorneCrest Retirement Center in 1989.

Trena was a member of the United Methodist Church where she had been active in circles and women s groups and had served as Sunday School secretary/treasurer for 12 years.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, embroidery, handsewing and crafts.

Trena is survived by her daughter, Sandra and her husband Peter Tundel of Eden Prairie, Minn.; grandchildren: Betsy and her husband Dr. Andrew Nottleson of White Bear Lake, Minn., Nikki Tundel of St. Paul, and Laura Tundel and Mark Tundel, both of Minneapolis, great-grandchildren: Ben, Sam and Anna Nottleson of White Bear Lake; daughter-in-law, Judy Menssen of Albert Lea; sister, Reka Nelemans of Waseca; and sister-in-law, Grace Gregg of Austin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Diekema; her son, Kenneth Diekema;

sister, Hattie Snodgrass; and brother, John Byl.
