Lillian Grasdalen, 91, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Lillian Evelyn Grasdalen, of Albert Lea, will be held
1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at Central Freeborn Lutheran Church. The Rev. Linda Gunderson will officiate. Interment will be in the Central Freeborn Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour before service at the church.
Lillian died Sunday, Sept.18, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Center. She was 91 years old.
Lillian was born in Freeborn County on Oct. 15, 1913, the daughter of Alfred and Olga (Tommeraasen) Gunderson. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1931 and Normal Teachers Training in Austin. Lillian had been a resident of Freeborn Co all of her life. Lillian was a member of Central Freeborn Lutheran Church. She was active in the church library, womens groups and making quilts. She was baptized on Nov. 16, 1913, at Round Prairie Lutheran Church and confirmed on June 12, 1927, at Lunder Lutheran Church. Lillian was married to George Grasdalen on Dec. 12, 1945, at Lunder Lutheran Church. She taught school for a few years and later worked as a nursing assistant at Naeve Hospital for many years.
Lillian was on the Naeve Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to entertain and enjoyed visiting and having coffee with friends and neighbors.
Lillian is survived by her brother, Ardell (Geraldine) Gunderson of Albert Lea; sisters: Ruby Rogness of Des Plaines, Ill., and Norma Tukua of Albert Lea; and nieces and nephews.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George, in 1988; sister, Sylvia Nelson; and brothers: Truman, Carlyle, Vernon and Gaylord.
