Gladys Dixon, 91, of Albert Lea

Funeral services for Gladys M. Dixon, age 91, of Albert Lea, will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, at the First Lutheran Church. The Rev. Dan Baker will officiate. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the services at the Church.
Gladys died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center.
Gladys Marie Dixon was born Oct. 2, 1914, to William and Elsia (Jahnke) Schneider in Pickerel Lake Township. She attended country school and was a lifelong resident of Albert Lea. Gladys lived on College Street for over 70 years, and then was a resident of Senior Court before moving to Thorne Crest this past Summer. On Oct. 21, 1942, Gladys was united in marriage to Joseph Dixon. The couple owned Dixon’s Drive Inn in the 1950s. Gladys was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Eagle’s Auxiliary. She had been a volunteer with ARC of Freeborn County and was a devout Minnesota Twins fan.
Survivors include her daughter, Janice and her husband Herman Bauers of Twin Lakes; grandchildren: Jeff and his wife Marcia Bauers of Twin Lakes, Dawn and her husband Bruce Drescher of Albert Lea, Chris and his wife Angie Bauers of Albert Lea, and Cory and his wife Colette Bauers of Clarks Grove; great-grandchildren: Justin and Travis Drescher, Jasmine, Bethany and Jonah Bauers, and Nathan and Aaron Bauers; sister, Ruby Severtson of Albert Lea; sisters-in-law: Norma Schneider of Albert Lea, and Ruth Wehrs of Seward, Neb.; and nieces and nephews.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph; and brothers and sisters: Florence Mathison, Alfred in infancy, Bernice Leschefske, Richard Schneider, Harold &8220;Bud&8221; Schneider, Viola Morrison; and a twin brother and sister in infancy.
