Laura Schewe, 88, Owatonna

Laura Louise Schewe, age 88, of Owatonna, died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005, at the Austin Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 10, 1916, in Pickerel Lake Township, Freeborn County, the daughter of Frank & Emma (Bauers) Becker. She married Melvin G. Schewe on Feb. 4, 1933, in Blue Earth. Laura worked along side her husband on the farm from 1934-65. In 1965, they moved to Owatonna.
Laura worked as a retail clerk at S & L from 1969-81. Her hobbies were dancing, visiting with people, cooking and baking, sewing & embroidery work, canning and babysitting.
Laura is survived by two sons: Melvin (Sandra) Schewe of Oakdale, Minn., and Dwight (Loretta) Schewe of Albert Lea; daughter, Melody (Allan) Benson of Fairfield Bay, Ark.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Lawrence (Phyllis) Becker of Albert Lea; and many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin G.; son, LaVern; six sisters and two brothers; and her special friend, Glen Wilson.
Visitation will be held at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna, on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m., and on Saturday at The Associated Church from 10 to 11 a.m.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at The Associated Church in Owatonna. Dr. Ronald D. Wilson of The Associated Church will be officiating.
Burial will be in the Geneva Cemetery in Geneva.
