Graveside services for Gina Marie Severtson, of Albert Lea, were held Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005 at Graceland Cemetery. Deacon Mike Ellis officiating.
Gina died Dec. 21, 2005, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea. She was 88 years of age.
Gina was born June 19, 1917, in Italy, the daughter of Salvatore and Josephine Maggio. In 1940, she began working as a dance artist in the Latin Quarter in New York City, which was founded by Lou Walters, the father of TV journalist Barbara Walters. In 1945 she worked at the Florentine Gardens in Los Angeles, Calif. Gina danced for many years and later married Orville Miller and moved to Hawaii. After Orville passed away, she moved to Las Vegas where she worked at the Four Queens. In 1978 she moved to Albert Lea and on Sept. 11, 1979, she was united in marriage to Faye Severtson in Las Vegas.
Gina is survived by her son Anthony Loring of Henderson, Nev., Brother Leo Maggio of California, Sister Sally (Fred) Ferrel of Boston, Mass. Extended family Ricky Severtson of Austin, Jim Severtson of Appleton, Wis., Karen (Pete) Nielsen of Albert Lea, Deb (Doug) Buck of Kasson, Minn., Susan (John) O’Malley of Utica, Minn. Grandchildren Marcie (Colby) Sailor, Jeff Ulve, Israel Severtson, Sara Peterson and Jessica Severtson. Great grandchildren Wyatt, Josie and Lane Sailor, Ella and Elijah Thompson.
Gina was preceded in death by her parents, husband Faye, and sister Paula.
