Sarah Abrego, age 71, of Albert Lea

The memorial service for Sarah Abrego of 605 E. 5th Street, Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at St. Theodore Catholic Church. The Rev. Jim Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Friends may visit with family from 4 to 8 Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral
Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.
There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Sarah was born on Sept. 6, 1934, in Ledyard, Iowa, the youngest of three daughters of Guadalupe and Beatrice Victoria (Rodriguez) Garcia.
She was united in marriage to Tony Abrego on June 21, 1952, in Albert Lea.
To this union of more than 53 years, 8 children were born: Rachel, Victor, Delra, Celeste, Vickie, Tony, John and Daphney.
Throughout her life she had worked at the Canton Cafe, DeSoto, Banquet Foods in Wells, Good Samaritan Center, St. John’s Lutheran Home and was also a translator for the Albert Lea School District.
She was so proud to have obtained her drivers license at the age of 52. She loved her flowers, going to garage sales, and mostly spending time with her precious family. Her pet &8220;Tigger&8221; was a special friend to her. Sarah died surrounded by the love of her family on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005,
at the Albert Lea Medical Center. She was 71.
She will be greatly missed by her family, husband Tony of Albert Lea, children: Rachel and her husband Tom Rainville of Sun Lakes, Ariz., Victor Abrego of Austin, Delra Briones, Celeste Nelson, Vickie and her husband Brad Edwin, Tony Abrego Jr. III and special friend Theresa Trow, John Abrego and his wife Jackie and Daphney and her husband Matt Maras all of Albert Lea; 20 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, sister: Genevieve Abrego of Big Rapids, Mich., many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law who loved and adored her, also nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, grandchildren Kimberly Jensen, Derek Abrego, sister Matilda Abrego son-in-law Dean Briones, father-in-law and mother-in law Celestino and Rosie Abrego, and close family friend Tip Wagoner.
