Gertrude Spat, 94, of Albert Lea

The funeral service for Gertrude M. Spat will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Bonnerup Funeral Chapel in Albert Lea. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the chapel.
Gertrude died on Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, at Good Samaritan Center, Albert Lea. She was 94 years old.
Gertrude was born in Germany on Aug. 4, 1911. In the 1930s she was united in marriage with Walter H. Spat and together they moved to Albert Lea in the 1940s.
Gertrude was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, and fishing. For 20 years, Walter and Gertrude had a daily routine of going to McDonalds for breakfast and lunch.
Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Helga Boroff of Bremerton, Wash.; two grandsons: Donald Boroff of Bremerton, Wash. and David Boroff of Albert Lea; and special friends, Rob Brackey and his family of Albert Lea.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter in 2004; and sisters and brothers.
