Hubert Weis, 81

The funeral service for Hubert &8220;Hoots&8221; Joseph Weis will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 2, at Bonnerup Funeral Chapel, Albert Lea. The Rev. James Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bonnerup Funeral Chapel and one hour before the service at the chapel. Military honors will be accorded by the Freeborn County veterans’ organizations.
Hubert died on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, at his home in Glenville. He was 81 years old.
Hubert the son of Joseph and Helen (Schultz) Weis, was born on July 18, 1924, in Burchard, Neb. He served our country in the U.S. Navy. On July 20, 1946, he married the love of his life, Patricia Knoettgen, in Beatrice, Neb.
Hubert &8220;Hoots&8221; was employed at Northern Natural Gas for 37 years, retiring in 1983 in Waterloo, Iowa. After his retirement, he enjoyed traveling, gardening and all sports activities including watching his great grandchildren.
Hoots is survived by his wife, Pat; two children: Pam Bock and her husband, Dennis of Plano, Texas, Kate Kalvig and her husband, Harold of Albert Lea; four grandchildren: Mike Kalvig and his wife, Tammy of Glenville, Rusty Kalvig and his wife, Brandi of New London, Mo., Shannon Bock of Fresno, Calif., Brad Bock and his wife, Holly of Allen, Texas; seven great-grandchildren: Cody, Tanner and Marissa Kalvig of Glenville, Jessica and Justin Kalvig of New London, Mo., Connelly and Courtney Bock of Allen, Texas; brother, Jim Weis of Andrews, Texas, and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, William and Joe Weis.
Hoots will be remembered for his many loving ways.
