Richard Sampson, 61 of Austin

Richard Dean Sampson, 61, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006 at his home. Richard was born April 28, 1944 to Martin and Gladys Irene Gullickson Sampson of Austin. He was a lifelong resident of Austin and worked at the Cedar Valley Workshop for over 30 years.
Throughout his life Richard was blessed to have loving caregivers, first his parents, then after they died, Vicky Johnson of Austin for 14 years. He then resided at REM Woodvale Willowwood until the time of his death. During these years many Austin Medical professionals and Mower County Human Services also helped Richard to live his life with dignity and purpose. The family of Richard Sampson in grateful to all who touched his life in so many kind ways.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 13, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. Ron Barnett officiating. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. Visitation will be held at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Monday for one hour before the service.
He is survived by cousins: James Kingland, J. Harris Jacobson, Arlen Gullickson, Jay Gullickson, John Kingland, David Ludvig, Marjorie Kingland, Mary Ludvig Franzen, JoAnn Gullickson, Donna Gullickson Tuttle, Janet Gullickson Dahlby; and special friend Vicky Johnson, as well as friends and staff at REM Willowwood.
