Jeff Budlong, On the rebound
Now that the NFL has settled its labor issues and the free agent signings have begun to slow it’s time to take a look at who signed who and where they will be playing in 2006.
AFC
Baltimore &045; Home of one of the more curious signings when Jamal Lewis re-signed with the team AFTER they went out and got Mike Anderson from the Broncos.
Anderson is now trading one crowded backfield for another.
Buffalo &045; If quantity counts than the Bills are in good shape already inking 11 players.
Cincinnati &045; With the bulk of their talent already locked up for years this team has stayed pretty much pat.
The best pickup it could make would be a healthy Carson Palmer.
Cleveland &045; They have spent big-time money but LeCharles Bentley, Willie McGinest and even Ted Washington should help Romeo in year two.
Denver &045;&160;After signing most of the Browns last year the Broncos are dipping into that well one more time with Kenard Lang.
Good luck.
Houston &045; It’s a good thing they have the top pick because none of its 10 signings are exciting or offensive linemen for that matter.
Good luck, David.
Indianapolis &045; Colts to Pats: &8220;We’ve got Adam and you don’t.&8221;
Jacksonville &045; Bringing in Brian Williams from Minny and Mike Williams from Buffalo doesn’t seem to be to newsworthy.
Kansas City &045;&160;The Chiefs have yet to sign a player that was not wearing the arrowhead on his helmet last year.
Miami &045; Nick Saben seems to know what he is doing so we will see if Daunte still has it.
New England &045; I know that Belichick is a &8220;god&8221; to some, but I have to wonder why you let the most clutch kicker ever walk.
N.Y. Jets &045; Patrick Ramsey may finally get his shot to see what he can really do if Chad Pennington can’t get back to form.
Oakland &045;&160;Aaron Brooks and Al Davis. A match made in deep ball heaven.
Pittsburgh &045; Hope everyone liked the &8216;05 team because that is what is back.
San Deigo &045; Drew is gone and Philip is in at QB that is the biggest news for the Bolts.
Tennessee &045; The Titans have taken a key player from three elite AFC teams.
David Givens (New England), Chris Hope (Pittsburgh) and David Thornton (Indy).
NFC
Arizona – Edgerrin James got to experience the thrill of signing a big money deal.
Now, he can
experience something else new &045; losing.
Atlanta &045; Michael Vick still may not be able to throw but he won’t have to worry about John Abraham chasing him anymore.
Carolina &045; Something I thought I would never say.
&8220;I like the Keyshawn Johnson deal.&8221;
Chicago &045; Brian Griese will be starting &045; and playing well &045; by week three for the Bears.
Dallas &045; T.O. and Mike Vanderjagt? Oh, this should be good.
Detroit &045; Joey Harrington is gone, Matt Millen isn’t.
Almost a good offseason.
Green Bay &045;&160;I am convinced that the Packers don’t want Favre back and they’re doing their best to ensure it.
Minnesota – Chester Taylor was the best signing of the offseason.
New Orleans &045; Drew Brees to Joe Horn will become a lethal combination.
N.Y. Giants &045; R.W. McQuarters continues on his quest to play for every NFL team.
Philadelphia &045; Eagles – T.O. = good offseason.
San Francisco – Does anyone care anymore?
Seattle &045; Their looking at Nate Burleson. The Vikes got Steve Hutchinson.
Ha, Ha.
St. Louis &045;&160;Mike Martz is gone that is a win in my book.
Tampa Bay &045; Another team that shunned all outsiders in favor of keeping all of their own guys.
Washington &045; Again, how can you have so much cap trouble and spend like they do.
Adam Archuleta, Antwaan Randle El, Andre Carter, Brandon Lloyd and on and on and on.
