Irma McKane, 78, of Albert Lea

Funeral services for Irma M. McKane, age 78, of Albert Lea, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at Salem Lutheran Church. The Rev. Jay Dahlvang will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Glenville. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the Church.
Irma died Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Irma Marianne McKane was born Aug. 19, 1927, to Frederick and Hedwig (Martin) Sonksen in Foster Township, Walters, Minn. She graduated from Kiester High School and worked as a waitress at the Lakeside Caf. On June 4, 1948, Irma was united in marriage to Harlan McKane in Gordonsville. She had been employed at Krogers, Miami Margarine, Holsum Foods and Ventura Foods, retiring in 1991. Irma was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church and enjoyed embroidery. She especially loved preparing and sharing meals and baking special &8220;treats&8221; with her family.
Survivors include her son, Michael and his wife, Cheryl McKane of Rochester; daughter, Michelle Thomas of Albert Lea; and son, Gregory and his wife, Dawn McKane, also of Albert Lea; grandsons: Keith Thomas, Christopher and Chad McKane, and Adam McKane; and great-grandchildren: Michael, Kaden, and Sophie Thomas.
Irma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harlan; and her sister, Violet Beers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Salem Lutheran Church.
