Knights take two at tournament

AUSTIN &045; The Alden-Conger baseball team put together two solid games to come away with a pair of wins at the Lyle/Pacelli Tournament over the weekend.
The Knights began their day with
a 10-6 victory over Spring Grove getting good production from the bottom of its lineup while Jordan Montes went the distance on the mound to collect the win.
Montes struck out six and walked four staying in control throughout.
MacKinley Schultz, Mitchell Kleinschrodt and David Troska all had a pair of hits for A-C while Greg Upseth and Matt Bremseth each had extra base knocks in the Knights’ six-run fourth inning.
A-C finished out the perfect day with a 3-2 win over Medford scoring a pair of runs in the fifth to secure the victory.
The Knights trailed 2-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth before finding their offense.
Bremseth was able to hold the lead on the mound once he got it giving up just four hits, striking out nine and walking three.
Schultz had two more hits in the game to give him four on the day while Opseth had a triple for the second straight contest.
A-C was able to bounce back with the strong performance after falling to Waterville-Elysian-Morristown
11-0 in five innings Friday.
The Knights improved to 3-4 on the season
as they prepare to travel to St. Clair tonight for a game with the Cyclones.
