Funeral services for Neil A. Wayne, age 68, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 21, at Faith Baptist Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Dennis Seiler will officiate. Interment will be in the Clarks Grove Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Neil died Monday, April 17, 2006, at his home in Albert Lea.
Neil Anthony Wayne was born Jan. 8, 1938, to Donald and Esther (Jensen) Wayne in Albert Lea. He was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from Ellendale High School in 1956. On Aug. 4, 1967, Neil was united in marriage to Isabelle Jensen in Clarks Grove. He had worked for Rock Island Railroad, Rasco Wood Products in Clarks Grove, and Streater Industries before owning and operating Wayne Sanitation Service. After his retirement, he worked for Peterson Excavating, Hartland Elevator hauling grain to Shakopee, HyVee Bakery, and Come Back Auto in Albert Lea. Neil had been a member of Faith Baptist Church for 13 years. Prior to that time, he was an active member of First Baptist Church in Clarks Grove for much of his life, where he had initiated a ministry that involved taping services and sharing them with members of the congregation. Neil enjoyed restoring tractors and flying. He was a kind man and always willing to help others. He enjoyed young people, humor and playing jokes, and delighting in making other people laugh.
Survivors include his wife, Isabelle of Albert Lea; son, Keith and his wife, Leigh Ann Wayne of Caledonia, Ohio; grandchildren: Nathan, Caroline, and Andrew; brother, Richard and his wife, Donna Wayne of Concord, N.C.; sisters, Connie and her husband, Jim Stewart of Des Moines, Iowa, and Janet and her husband, Donald Dickson of Irving, Texas; and seven nieces and nephews.
Neil was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Roy F. Jensen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Faith Baptist Church or the Crossroads Community Hospice.
