Mabel Larson, 95, of Albert Lea

The funeral service for Mabel Melvina Larson will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, at Hayward Lutheran Church. The Rev. John R. Malm will officiate. Burial will be in East Freeborn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bonnerup Funeral Chapel in Albert Lea and one hour before the service at the church.

had lived since 2002. She was 95 years old.

Mabel was born in rural Hayward, on Sept. 5, 1910, the daughter of Sievert and Susie (Vigdahl) Thompson. She was baptized and confirmed in Oakland Midway Lutheran Church. She attended school in rural Hayward.

On Sept. 22, 1928, Mabel was united in marriage with Leonard Larson in her family’s home in Lerdahl. She worked side by side with Leonard on many different farms, mostly in Freeborn County. When they retired they moved to Hayward. They had been members of Moscow Lutheran Church and most recently Hayward Lutheran Church where Mabel had been active in ladies groups.

Mabel had been active in the Hayward Senior Citizens Center. She also enjoyed dancing, playing cards, crocheting

and embroidery. Her family will remember

her great homemade donuts and buns. As a young woman she had been on a woman’s softball team and while her children were in school she had been active in PTA.

Mabel is survived by one son, Lou (Stephanie) Larson of Hayward; one daughter, Susie (Curtis) Berg of Oakland; five grandchildren: Kim (Scott) Woitas, Mike (Vicki) Larson, Galen (Lisa) Berg, Tiffany (Jason) Hagan, Dannielle (fianc, Phillip Sayles) Berg; nine great-grandchildren: Brie and Brooke Woitas, Haley and Culley Larson, Nathan and Trevor Erickson, Keisha and McKenna Berg, and Sadie Hagan; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard in 1985; one son, Gordon; daughter-in-law, Sal Larson; six brothers and three sisters.
