Mable (Root) Hill Prescher, age 81, of Ellendale, passed away at her home on Saturday, May 6, 2006.

She was born April 22, 1925, in Dowes, Iowa to George and Bessie Root, the sixth of seven girls. She married Aubrey Hill on March 19, 1942, in Dowes. They farmed in the Belmond area until 1951 when they moved to the Ellendale area where they also farmed. Aubrey passed away in 1968. Mable worked at Lerbergs for a number of years. She married Harold Prescher in 1970 and they moved to the Wells area. They later divorced, and she moved back to Ellendale.

Mable is survived by there sons: Dennis (Charlotte) Hill of Austin, Texas, Rodger (Sue) Hill of Ellendale; five grandchildren: Michael Hill of Houston, Texas, Joel (Amy) Hill of Austin, Texas, Christina (Tim) Berry of Springfield, Mo., Vicki (Kory) Kress of Ankeny, Iowa; and Cassandra Hill of Genevea, Minn.; seven great-grandchildren: Emily, Bradley and Blake of Austin, Texas, Noah of Houston, Texas, Jade, Destiny and Cherysh of Ankeny, Iowa; and two sisters: Rosella and Lucille.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Aubrey, son Douglas and four sisters.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 12, at United Methodist Church in Geneva, with the Rev. Gary Liker officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, May 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Chapel in Ellendale, and also one hour before the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the Geneva Cemetery.
