Leroy Hoehn, 76, Albert Lea

Memorial services for LeRoy B. &8220;Lee&8221; Hoehn, age 76, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 31, at the Church of St. Theodore. The Rev. Jim Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by area servicemen’s organizations. Visitation is one hour prior to the services at the church.

Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Lee died Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.

LeRoy B. Hoehn was born Dec. 8, 1929, to Roy and Julia Hoehn in Mankato. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1949. Lee entered the United States Army in January, 1950 and was discharged in April, 1952, having served in Korea for two years where he received a Purple Heart for wounds received in combat. After his discharge, he worked for Northwestern Bell for eight years.

On May 28, 1955, Lee married Vera in Thief River Falls, where he owned and operated a body shop for a number of years. Then Lee and Vera worked in property management in several states, including Hawaii. He received a commendation from the mayor and the chief of police of Honolulu for his assistance in the apprehension of a suspect wanted by the police. After their retirement in 1978, Lee and Vera moved back to Albert Lea and managed the Bel-Aire Motel for two years before moving to Kiester. Lee then drove a school van part time for the Wells School District.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Julia Hoehn; sister, Donna Yost; his loving wife of 49 years, Vera in January, 2002; brothers-in-law: Gene Barrett, Orville Hauge and Clifford Hauge; and sister-in-law, Camille Hauge.

In September 2005, he married Jean May Sorenson who he loved very dearly.

Survivors include his wife, Jean; sister, Mary Barrett; brothers-in-law: Ray Yost, Donovan Hauge and Charles Sporing and his wife, Verna; and several nieces and nephews.
