Evelyn Leach, 68, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Evelyn Lydia (Sturtz) Leach, age 68, of Albert Lea, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at the First Presbyterian Church in Albert Lea. Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Home, Albert Lea.
Evelyn died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, at Presbyterian Care Center, Arden Hills, Minn.
Evelyn was born on Feb. 6, 1938, in Albert Lea, to James and Evelyn Sturtz. She grew up in Albert Lea and Graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1956. She was married to John Leach in Albert Lea. She was a graduate of Mankato State in Music Therapy.
Evelyn was a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Albert Lea. She was a youth choir director for 15 years and she and her mother supervised the church nursery for 10 years. She was active in many civic projects including The YMCA, Jobs Daughters, Youth Hockey Association, Girl Scouts, summer music programs for ARC, and music therapy for the elderly. She was a director of Congregate Dining in Minneapolis for many years.
She enjoyed spending time with all her family and friends and loved watching all her grandchildren grow up. She was always very kind and thoughtful of others.
Evelyn is survived by her children: Pam (Rick) Miller of Tipp City, Ohio, Todd (Nancy) Leach of Albert Lea, Scott Leach and friend Kathy of St. Paul, Dan Leach of Albert Lea, grandchildren: Nessa, Derrick, Taavy Miller of Ohio, Amy and Abby Leach of Albert Lea, Nick Leach of St. Paul, and Mariah and Brittney Leach Albert Lea. She is also survived by her Aunt Rosie Larson of Albert Lea, many Horning cousins, and dear friends.
