Genevieve Olson, 95, of Hayward

Funeral services for Genevieve L. Olson, age 95, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 8 at the Hayward Lutheran Church. Rev. John Malm will officiate.

Genevieve died Wednesday, August 2, 2006, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center.
Genevieve Leone Olson was born March 15, 1911, to George and Nora (Festad) Olson in Hayward. On August 3, 1932, she was united in marriage to Carlyle &8220;Hub&8221; Skaar in Hayward. They were members of Hayward Lutheran Church and the National Guernsey Cattle Club. Carlyle died May 21, 1956.
Genevieve married Curtis J. Olson June 4, 1960 in Oakland. The couple moved to Denver, Iowa, where Genevieve worked as a nurse’s aide at the Denver Nursing Home. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and the Denver Garden Club. The couple moved to Hayward in 1972 and became members of Hayward Lutheran Church.
Curtis died September 18, 1993.
Genevieve was a member of the Altar Guild, WELCA of Hayward, the Rebecca Circle, and an active member in the Senior Citizen’s Center in Hayward. She was an avid Twins fan and loved playing cards with family and friends and baking and cooking.
Survivors include her children: James and wife, Nancy Skaar of Albert Lea, Chris and wife, Kay Skaar of Hayward, and Julie and husband, Hank Beaver of San Diego, Calif.; son-in-law, Robert Pecora of Sacramento, Calif; grandchildren: David Pecora of Bronxville, N.Y., Dawn Nelson of Oakland, Cherry Buttles of Black Creek, Wis., Diane Stundahl of Austin, Suzanne Stundahl of Champaign, Ill., Mary Elleby of Hayward, Debbie Janson of Champaign, Ill., Tracy Skaar of Hayward, Todd Skaar of Indianapolis, Ind., John Beaver of San Diego, Calif., and Sarah Beaver of San Diego, Calif.; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren: Cai, Callie, and Samantha Nelson; sisters, Opal Petersen of Albert Lea and Gerry and husband, Donald Johnson of Pinellas Park, Fla.; sister-in-law, Faye Olson of Albert Lea; and brother-in-law, Arthur Sherman of Albert Lea.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Carlyle and Curtis; daughter, Janet Pecora; grandson, Timothy Skaar; granddaughter, LaVonne Stieler; great-granddaughter, Jackie Nelson; brother, Rudy Olson; sisters: Mayme Whiteis, Hazel Sherman, Olive Peterson, and Eva Hutchins; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
