William Lee Meredith, age 79, of Topeka, passed away Monday, Aug. 28, 2006.
Lee was born March 13, 1927, at Newton, Iowa, the son of Merwin and Myrna Leazer Meredith. He attended public schools and Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. He served honorably in the U.S. Naval Air Corps in 1945 and 1946. On Nov. 27, 1948, Lee and Donna K. Kelly were married in Albert Lea. She survives at the home.
Lee was a former member of the Elks and Moose Lodges, ATO Social Fraternity, Topeka, Shawnee County Flood Control Association and life member of Kansas Parent Teachers Association and the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of Christ the King Church where he volunteered and was a member of the choir. Lee was in the construction industry for 30 years, retiring from Martin Tractor Co.
Also surviving are two sons, Lynn W. Meredith, and his wife, Jan, of Pittsburg, Kan., and Josh K. Meredith, and his wife, Holly, of Ft. Myers, Fla.; two daughters Linda L. Weisbender, and her husband, David, of Manhattan, Kan., and Julie K. Waldron, and her husband, Bill, of Allen, Texas; two sisters, Vinci Flanagan, Topeka, and Shari Neumann, Underwood, Iowa; and 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 S.W. Urish Road, Topeka, KS, 66614, where a parish prayer service will be at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Church. Cremation will follow. Private inurnment will be at West Lawn Memorial Gardens.
