Gordon Nels Lundblad, 95, of Albert Lea

Funeral services for Gordon Nels Lundblad, 95, of Albert Lea will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006 at Thorne Crest Retirement Center, Albert Lea. The Reverend Curtis Zieske will officiate.

Interment will be at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at Thorne Crest.

Gordon died on Friday, Oct. 20, 2006 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester from complications of diabetes.

Gordon was born on April 13, 1911 in St. Paul to Swedish immigrants Nels and Emma (Green) Lundblad. In March 1912, the family moved to a farm near Princeton, where he grew up, attended a rural school, and graduated from the Princeton High School.

He then attended a business college in Minneapolis and continued his education with correspondence courses.

He spent most of his working life in the Minneapolis area in the accounting profession. First in the industry and then in public accounting. Gordon was a member of the Minnesota Society and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.

He married Helen Ivy Milton on June 20, 1936. They have one daughter, Carol Lundblad. Upon retirement in 1977, Gordon and Helen moved from their home in St. Louis Park to Albert Lea.

Survivors include his wife Helen, his daughter Carol, one niece, one nephew, and several cousins in both the U.S. and Sweden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Marion in 1944, and Grace in 1997, and a brother in infancy.
