Tigers encouraged by run at Owatonna

OWATONNA &045; The Albert Lea cross country teams got a taste of the course they will get to know well in Owatonna Thursday with the conference and section meets slated to be run there later this month.
The boys finished in 10th place overall while the girls were 13th place finishers.
Ethan Marquardt led the Tigers, like he has much of the season, with a sixth place finish in 16:20.7 followed by Levi Budd in 29th place at 17:14.6 and Steve Senholtz was 44th in 17:46.2.
Steve Kreun (75th), Judd Bonnerup (77th), Chris Dorman (80th) and Eric Bowron (82nd) rounded out the varsity.
The girls&8217; squad was paced by Mallory King in 65th place with a time of 17:23.4, Alicia Reyes took 76th in 17:50.3 and Alyssa Sager finished in 76th position at 18:14.6.
Abby Randal, Lauren Klick, Elizabeth Burnett and Marta Behling all finished between 82nd and 88th on the day.
&8220;We have made great strides in the past weeks to be better and it is paying off,&8221; Albert Lea head coach Jim Haney said. &8220;I was very proud of all my runners as they gave me everything they had.&8221;
