Bertha Carlson, 98, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Bertha I. Carlson, age 98, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, at Moscow Lutheran Church. The Rev. Peter Soli will officiate. Interment will be in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Alcester, S.D. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Bertha died on Friday, Nov. 24, 2006, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.
Bertha Ida Carlson was born on Oct. 23, 1908, in Lincoln County, S.D., the daughter of Hans and Malena (Iverson) Satre.
She attended school in Union County, S.D. On March 3, 1933, Bertha was united in marriage to Alfred W. Carlson in Canton, S.D.
Bertha and Alfred farmed in the Beresford, S.D. area. She also worked at the Bethesda Home for the Aged in Beresford. Bertha attended Peace Lutheran Church in Alcester until 1982. After Alfred&8217;s death she came to Moscow Township to live with her sister Johanna. She was active in the Moscow Lutheran Church.
In 1996 Bertha came to Albert Lea where she lived at Senior Court, Brian&8217;s Elder Care and the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.
Survivors include her sisters, Gladys Klick of Stockton, Calif., Betty Tompkins, also of Stockton, and Hilma Watson of Albert Lea; and several nieces and nephews.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Alfred in 1982; sisters Sylvia Stoen and Johanna Gullickson; and brothers Clarence, Irvin, Selmer and Ingolf Satre.
Memorials are preferred to Moscow Lutheran Church, Peace Lutheran Church in Alcester, S.D., or to the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.
