Evelyn Dahl, 92, Lake Mills

Evelyn V. Dahl, age 92, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006, at the Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills, Iowa. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 27, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with the Rev. W. Paul Weeg officiating. Burial was in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Emmons. Visitation was Sunday, Nov. 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 E. Main St., in Lake Mills, and one hour prior to services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills.
Evelyn Valborg (Hanson) Dahl was born on Dec. 14, 1913, in Winnebago County, to parents Lewis and Caroline (Singelstad) Hanson. She was baptized and confirmed at Lime Creek Lutheran Church, rural Emmons, and was a graduate of Scarville High School in Scarville, Iowa.
On Feb. 11, 1934, Evelyn was united in marriage with Glenn B. Dahl at Lime Creek Lutheran Church. The couple farmed for many years, eventually retiring to Lazy Acres, east of Lake Mills.
Evelyn was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church, keeping involved with many activities, circles, and ladies aide. She had multiple hobbies including painting, sewing, crafts, baking, word games, and playing on her computer.
Evelyn is survived by two sons, Gary Dahl and his wife, Deb of Peru, Ill., and George Dahl of San Antonio, Texas; three daughters, Darlene Madson and her husband, Dennis of Lake Mills, Iowa, Dorothy Gesme and her husband, Jim of Hayfield, and Carol Christenson and her husband, Jerry of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; 21 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn; daughter, DeLoris Hanna; infant daughter, Loretta; two granddaughters, Teresa Taylor and Barbara Dahl; and a great-granddaughter, Hillary Mae Madson.
