The seventh-ranked Owatonna boys&8217; basketball team put on an impressive performance in beating Albert Lea 88-53 at home Thursday.
The Tigers were led by A.J. Kortz who had 21 points and Levi Peterson added 13 but it wasn&8217;t enough.
Owatonna held a 39-38 halftime advantage and used a suffocating full court press to disrupt what the Tigers were trying to do most of the night.
Albert Lea tried to keep the game close but the Huskies were red-hot shooting from the floor the whole night.
R.J. Polley added eight points and Mitch Wenum contributed five as the Tigers fell to 1-1 in conference play.
Mabel-Canton 72, G-E 45
In Mabel, the Cougars dealt Glenville-Emmons its second straight lopsided loss of the season, 72-45.
The Wolverines were led by Jarrad Knutson and Aaron Wuerflein who each had 16 points and eight rebounds.
G-E kept within striking distance in the first 14 minutes of the game but fell behind 35-19 at halftime.
&8220;They were physical inside and we have to find an identity on the offensive end,&8221; Glenville-Emmons head coach Dan Fredrickson said. &8220;Our young guards have to take control out there.&8221;
The Wolverines will look to get into the win column Saturday when they travel to Rochester to take on Schaeffer Academy.
